This property was originally built for well-off land owners/farmers. The area is famous for it’s olives, flowers and vegetables.
It is situated on the edge of one of the many hamlets of San Ginese so while you have the privacy of your own courtyard/garden, there are also neighbours and a shop/bar/trattoria just a few minutes walk away.
This house was built in the last century and was modernised in the 1950’s/60’s which means that on the ground and first floor it is tiled throughout with “graniglia” marble tiles, typical of this area. The house has electricity, running water, central heating (gas) and telephone lines. It’s relatively easy to get a broadband connection in San Ginese (this is not true of the whole of rural Italy).
The local municipality (see www.comune.capannori.lu.it) is very “green”minded which means that they are into farmers markets, “slow food” events, recycling, solar panels etc and even have their own office for assisting you with energy saving instalments/heating systems etc for which you can also get grants.
The Compitese is a protected area with a large natural park and no industry.
