Detached Village House with Full Car Access and 270 degree views
It has a wraparound garden and a very attractive trellis underwhich outdoor meals can be enjoyed. There are steps up into the living room with fireplace. The kitchen is also on the ground floor. The house has a lovely conforting feeling about it with an open fireplace. During the restoration, the owner installed all the pipes for the central heating without putting in the boiler as he only used the house as a holiday home.
The floors are new, but traditional "mezzane" style. The ceilings all have beams and "mezzane" giving the house lots of character. There are also 'mezzane' on the window sills.
The stairs are the original stone, Matraia stairs. The Matraia stone is now exhausted and so it is considered very precious in a house. The first floor has two bedrooms and two bathrooms one of which is a cloakroom with a laundry. The other is a full bathroom with shower.
The carpentry is particularly fine in this house with lovely chestnut doors and double glazed windows.
The top floor is accessed by a wooden staircase and is open plan with an attractive wrought iron bannister. This is how, another one of our properties, Casa Tosca could be restored.
The roof has waterproofing and we are waiting to hear if there is also insulation.
The house is situated close to a walking path that connects Monte Prato Fiorito with Bagni di Lucca. There is an agriturismo restaurant up at Monte Prato Fiorito and a one at Pieve di Monti di Villa both of which make nice destinations for Sunday lunch walks.
