Restored Detached Stone Home with Parking in Historic Village
The house was restored by the owners adding a luxury bathroom on the first floor.
This building was once two homes and so there are two glass front doors, one into the main dining room and one into a snug sitting room with fireplace. The kitchen is spacious with easy flow into the dining room. Off this room is a delightful dual aspect study and a storage room.
The ground floor has beams and terracotta floors.
Up the original stairs which are 'pietra matraia', there is a spacious landing with space for a luminous study corner. There are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as an attractive, dual aspect dressing room. One of the bathrooms has a shower, the current owners put in a new bathroom with a free-standing bathtub. The bedroom floors are hardwood.
There is an entire attic level which could be used to make further bedrooms, the plumbing and wiring are partially installed ready for finishing off.
Underneath the house, there are five cantinas, a boiler room with both a wood boiler and the new solar system. There is a bathroom, a pizza oven and direct access to the sizeable garden.
The garden is walled with original stone walls giving privacy and space for a pool.
There is daily bread delivered at about 9 am or there is fresh bread available at either the village below or Caprignana above, a short but, quite steep walk up.
Below is the amazing Marovelli farm shop including Pecorino produced by the local sheep. If you are itching for cakes, there are two wonderful pastry stores, 10 minutes' drive away in Piazza al Serchio. The Garfagnana is famous for i delicacies, sadly none of which are low-cal. Bazzone is served in the Trattoria in the village below to which there is a mule track passing the ancient mills.
